a Little Help Swinging

The swing looked old,
It looked unused and lonely,
Though scared she was bold,
Just a swing on an old tree only.

She didn't know how to swing,
She kicked and moved about,
But made no progress,
Until the grateful tree helped her out.

Kind Words from Gina (One of my favorite patrons of my work!)

Vath, this tree swing painting is off the hook! The wrist on the tree's hand?! Beautiful gradation and segue of colors---lends the wrist such a fragility--I've never seen anything quite so perfect in my life--seriously. The seat board is utterly fantastic; the grains of the wood, splintering, popping, cracking and the ropes of the swing?? What the heck are they? Gorgeous, way, way off the hook beautiful detailing of this rope; almost reminds me of like an asian or thai influence of beaded work--and again the hands; these fingers are exquisite Vath! Grand detailing of the wood layers, peeling strips & separations on the fingers and the pincer grasp is such a celebration of joy and reverence in how much care he's putting into swinging the girl. The moon is delicious--the haze in the sky. The farmhouse somehow captured both a bit eerie yet comforting. The joy and huge smile!!! Your girl is smiling! HER EYES, HER CHEEKS,perfect, precious. Her eyes!!!! THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY, THANK YOU!

Vath, I just went back to look at the tree swing painting again after I wrote you the first email. I think this is my favorite painting so far and I was surprised to find myself in tears looking at the tender beauty again in the tree's wrist and fingers. I was very very surprised by my reaction and all the emotion it brings up. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite so perfect as this tree's hand--you have given it so much life and yet I get that it's old, fragile and it amazes me that a tree hand, just a hand, can have so much depth and personality; huge character, so rich, well-rounded, multi-faceted. I am amazed by how much this means to me. You have so much talent, SO MUCH TALENT. Excellent restraint--exquisite appointments of nuances, shadows, lights, fills, voids---

Isn't that wonderful that she took the time to express such feeling!
